The nacimiento is officially out at your abuela’s house. The streets smell like cinnamon and pine trees. Your Tia’s ponche is calling you by your name.

December is a month of celebration, and our people sure know how to throw a party (we literally make any budget work). From the endless juntaderas to the sudden need to grab brunch or dinner with friends more often, Navida’ —whether you celebrate it or not— is a special time.

We’d like to close this year off with a very special monthly topic. For the entire month of December, we will be celebrating our Dominican culture by way of some of our traditions. From the songs that can’t ever be missing on any sort of holiday playlist, to the origins of some of the traditions that are part of this time of the year. We’re excited to make you feel more at home, no matter where you are or what temperature you’re in.  

Careful with that ponche though, it is no joke. But if you’re going to indulge, don’t be a come solx.

La abuela ya sacó el nacimiento. Hay un olor a pino y canela por todas partes. El ponche —bien fuerte— de tu Tía te llama por nombre y apellido.

Diciembre es un mes de celebración y nuestra gente sí que sabe hacerlo (literalmente trabajamos con cualquier presupuesto). Desde las juntaderas que no se acaban, a querer desayunar o comer con nuestrxs amigxs más a menudo, la Navida’ —ya sea que la celebres o no— es una época especial.

Queremos cerrar este año con un tema del mes súper especial. Todo Diciembre estaremos celebrando nuestra cultura Dominicana a través de algunas de nuestras tradiciones. Desde las canciones que nunca pueden faltar en tu playlist navideño, a los orígenes de algunas de nuestras tradiciones. Estamos emocionadas de hacerte sentir un poquito más en casa, no importa dónde estés o qué tan frío esté afuera.

Ten cuidado con el ponche, que ese no relaja. Pero si lo vas a disfrutar, no seas come solx.
