My Love Letter to Pinterest and Copenhagen Street Style

If you were to ask me how a regular day looks for me, I honestly might give you 3 to 4 different answers. Everyday is different, but from the morning to the evening, I work at an advertising agency. This means means I have to dress ‘properly’ every day, but not too properly. It is an advertising agency after all and we don’t take things too seriously. I always check the weather app the night before and I make sure that I think ahead much possible, especially when I have events because you see, New Yorkers don’t get to go home before an evening event or dinner. We leave our apartments ready for war.
But the truth is I love getting the ritual of getting dressed in the morning. I take dressing up as an opportunity to express myself and where my mind is at the moment. However, I would be lying if I say I come up with my (cool?) styling choices entirely by myself. You see, at some point every evening or early morning, I go into Pinterest for inspiration.
Letting the colors and visuals take over my screen is one of the top ways I relax. I can spend hours browsing the endless feed of fashion heaven that Pinterest is. And to be honest, it has gotten to a point where I don’t know how to dress without it.
It might be the decision fatigue after a long day of making decisions and working non-stop, or it might just be that is one of the many ways I have become dependent on technology. I appreciate the beauty of hashtags and algorithms that take me almost (cause it still needs some work) exactly down a linen, silk or red blazer hole. And I certainly appreciate the cities I can pretend I all of the sudden know a lot about like London, Copenhagen, Amsterdam - none of which I have visited but nonetheless consider myself a fervent fan of their sense of style, especially Copenhagen

Si me preguntas cómo es un día normal para mí, la verdad es que podría darte entre 3 y 4 respuestas completamente diferentes. Cada día es diferente, pero durante la mañana y la tarde trabajo en una agencia de publicidad. Esto significa que me tengo que vestir para “oficina” todas las mañanas, pero tampoco super formal, después de todo es una agencia de publicidad y no nos muchas las cosas muy en serio. Siempre chequeo el clima la noche anterior y me aseguro de anticipar todo lo posible, especialmente cuando tengo eventos o cenas porque, como muchxs de ustedes saben bien, en Nueva York nadie pasa por su casa durante el día. Aquí salimos de nuestras casas listos para la guerra.
Pero la verdad es que me encanta el ritual de vestirme en la mañana. Aprovecho el momento como una oportunidad para expresar mi creatividad y más o menos dónde esta mi mente en ese momento. Sin embargo, estaría mintiendo si digo que soy la sola responsable de mi estilismo. Todas las tardes o a veces hasta tempranito en la mañana, me entro a Pinterest buscando inspiración.
Dejar que los colores y las imágenes se apoderen de mi pantalla es una de las principales formas en que me relajo. Puedo pasar horas navegando la fuente infinita de moda que Pinterest tiene. Y para serte sincera, ha llegado a un punto en el que no sé cómo vestir sin entrar en la aplicación.
Puede ser la fatiga que siento al final de un largo día tomando decisiones y trabajando sin parar o podría ser que esta es una de las muchas maneras en la que dependo de la tecnología. Aprecio la belleza de los hashtags y los algoritmos que me llevan casi exactamente (porque todavía no son perfectos) por viaje infinito de lino, seda o conjuntos de colores. Y ciertamente aprecio las ciudades que de un momento a otro pretendo conocer súper bien como Londres, Copenhague y Amsterdam - ninguna de las cuales he visitado pero que, sin embargo, me considero una ferviente admiradora de su sentido de la moda, en especial Copenhague.
